PLAYMACHINE is a non-profit startup dedicated to innovation in theatrical experiences which explore futures. Beginning programing in 2016, the organization is charged with fostering technological experimentation in theatrical media while promoting art and artists that imagine futures civically and humanistically.
To us, 'theatrical experiences' encompasses traditional forms of theater and expands to include new media such as VR, AR, and digital programming as well as innovations at the intersection of performance and LARPing, video games, and other 21st Century forms of interactive storytelling art and entertainment. 'Exploring futures' is our pursuit of understanding our contemporary society, its history, and where it is going through art and expression, diverse in its voices but singular in its vision for a better tomorrow.
THE PARSNIP SHIP PODCAST is an intimate series of plays performed before live audiences then made accessible as a monthly podcast. Hosted by Iyvon Edebiri and Eri Borlaug, the series aims to build community by exploring diverse perspectives and by bringing awareness to inspiring voices. We strive to program plays that are new and unexpected, that challenge our listeners with innovative form and powerful content.
